eCommerce Personalization

Needing to provide personalized offers to website visitors while simultaneously supporting data mining queries led KAYAK to pick TokuDB over conventional MySQL storage engines. Because indexing is so fast in TokuDB, it is easy to create indexes on the fly, test how well they support a useful query, and then decide to keep or discard the new index. This “ad hoc indexing” gives the business team unprecedented flexibility. In addition to flexible indexing, TokuDB also provides immunity to database “aging” which means no periodic dump/reload is necessary to preserve query performance.
